Edna Leaves Christmas feature

Life Training Coach and author Anthem Hayes will not get on a plane during the pandemic to see her grandchildren in California. After a zoom session with her Life Training subscribers, she talks her technical assistant Tonya Brighton in going to Maine with her to have something she never had: A White Christmas.

Anthem and Tonya have driven to Rockport, Maine, arriving at “Esprit de Bois” and Edna’s Cabin. It is where owner Jacob lives but in a barn behind the cabin. The cabin is resplendent with original art. Tonya instantly sees the primary female subject in the paintings has the exact same eyes as Anthem.

When Jacob appear with dog, Molly. Molly never leaves his side without his signal. Not this time. Jacob is caught off guard by Molly behavior at lying Anthem’s feet. When Jacob gets close, Anthem and he really see each other for the first time. It is a moment.

Jacob retires to the barn. Their interaction is limited going forward as Anthem and Tonya are going through a Maine mandatory 14 day quarantine.

Anthem learns Calder’s Overlook one early morning after a fresh snowfall. Jacob with discovers Anthem twirling in a vortex of snow at his beloved overlook..

Molly is attacked by a wild animal during their first meeting. Jacob has to put Molly down, and falls into a deep depression.

During the following period Anthem and Tonya begin to learn more of the lore of Jacob and Edna through an art gallery owner, his doctor, and the town’s art curator.

Tonya breaks off a relationship with a man back in Charleston, but meets Ketchem at the harbor in Rockport. He becomes a new diversion for her.

Anthem is also a cancers survivor, but she has not told Tonya it has returned. The experiencing her first and possibly last white Christmas is very personal to her. She checks in with the Jacob’s doctor who wants her to have an MRI scan while she’s in Maine.

Anthem has been mentoring Tonya in their Life Training business and decides it is time for Tonya to conduct one on her own. During Tonya’s session, she chooses a participant to talk about the mental and physical pain she is experiencing.

Most of the Jacob story seems to be coming together for Anthem and Tonya as they travel to Bangor. Jacob has finally come out of his depressive funk with a little push with an axe by Anthem.

While they women are in Bangor, an out-of-state cop shows up at “Esprit de Bois” intending to kill Tonya. Jacob has a unique security system in his barn which alerts him there is an intruder. Jacob confronts the man on the front porch of the cabin and mortally shoots him.

Everything is set for a special Christmas Eve dinner and reveal for Anthem, Tonya, and Jacob, and the opening of two special presents on Anthem’s White Christmas morning.

It’s a holiday season of the unexpected all for the want of a White Christmas.
