Two brothers who are servants for Japan's Imperial Household navigate the aftermath of World War II and develop drastically different perspectives on their emperor.
(NOTICE: This is my first draft, and the first script I have ever written. It's not going to be good. I am looking for peer review so I can learn about what I can improve on. Thanks!)
(ANOTHER EDIT: I realized I wrote American consulate instead of American embassy in the second sequence. I am currently fixing that. There are also two scenes that need to be switched around in order. I am working on de-capitalizing the names and will post a new draft soon.)
Beginning just after WWII and ending the day after Japan gains independence from Allied occupation, "His Perfect Image" follows the different perspectives of those involved in repairing and recreating Emperor Hirohito's public persona. Set almost exclusively in Tokyo, the story is told by a variety of voices, but always returns to two servants in the Imperial Household. Asahi, an optimistic yet ignorant servant whose only work is to make sure his emperor is awake, is convinced of his innocence; Mamoru, his older brother, is tasked with sorting paperwork, and the glimpses he catches tell him otherwise. They both navigate the changing cultural and political climate as Hirohito once again becomes the face of Japan - this time, in a completely different light.
A Spanish Don is sent to eighteenth-century San Antonio to construct the Missions. He must overcome the wilderness and Comanche to reunite with his fiancee and establish his family's legacy.
Under British-ruled Ireland, Irish Catholic servant Reanna O’Neil is forced to flee for her life when, in self-defense, she kills her attacker, a British noble. His son-in-law, hot on her heels and out for blood, will stop at nothing to “Make the Irish slattern pay!”.
