Scott, an ambitious young man, is hiking in the woods with his friend Holly in search of snail shells and deer antlers for her mother's pottery. They part ways in opposite directions to cover more ground, with Holly warning Scott to stay away from a woodland bridge. Curiosity gets the better of Scott. He goes to the bridge and encounters an eccentric and mysterious Magician who holds him captive. The Magician gives Scott a test: retrieve his wand and silver key from a cave by the bridge. Should he fail or refuse, he'll be turned into a deer.
The story is good. The presentation isn't. You don't have to make this longer, you have to make it better. Think about these two as living breathing characters with history and experiences. Once you incorporate that, you'll find a dynamic interesting way of showing this story.
