Christmas Cards feature

The concept for the story is very strong, centereing it around Christmas season is obvioulsy very smart. Logline and first ten pages serviced the script well. Logline set apporpriate expectations, and the first ten pages established the story, main character, and challenges they would face. Descriptive scenes were well written, not exaggerated nor written as if they were directing the movie. Antagonis/protagnoist is probably the weakest part of the screenplay, but only because of what the story is about. Some audiences will indeed find it boring and slow, the genre the story fits into however, will enjoy it as it unfolds. "Tony" drives the story very well. He is developed from the beginning and the writer did an excellent job in establshing the characters frustrations, challenges, hopes and excitement. Pacing of the story is good. Personally I didn't like the introduction of trolls and would've handled that differently, and a producer will most likely change that. I understand the writers attempt with the trolls, allowing the reader to see through the eyes of the character, but in my opinion each time they appear they disrupt the pacing of an excellent story and add no benefit. Climax/Resolution: The ending is decent as written, I feel that it could be better. The writer might consider doing an even happier ending then the one that's there. Perhaps some card making company hears of Tony's struggles and cuts him a check, but the story is also marketable with it's current ending. Over all the script reads very well. It is the best script I have read on here to date. My honest opinion is it's ready to go to market. As a person who thinks like a producer I think this script has excellent potential. With very little work you could have a micro budget film that would be easy to sell to content providers. I noticed very little formatting errors if any at all. If there were spelling errors, there were so few that they didn't stand out. Excellent story, well written, great character development etc...I honestly can't say enough good things about this script. It's not something based on my personal taste that I would watch, but it's something that I would definetly want to produce because the value is easy to see.

Concept: The concept is excellent, you basically take "The Exorcist," and combine it with the opening scene from "Saving Private Ryan," and it is a captivating concept for a horror film. The possession and by whom was well thought out and researched, and if not, it is written to where it appears so. Logline/First 10: The writer did an excellent job in both areas. The logline made me immediatly wanted to read the script. The first 15 pages stoked me out, it made me really want to produce the movie. Excellent imagination. Scenes: The writer put a lot of thought into the scenes, and there is some exceptional thoughts in there that make them stand out. However, the action writing is way to long, they read like a novel. I worry about how much actual movie is there if the action scenes were written properly. They need to be condensed. If you want to direct the movie fine, but you don't write it as the director, which is what happened here. Protagnoist/antagonist: Save these comments for later in the review; overall the reader could grasp them quickly and easily. Dialogue: Dialogue is very poor. It doesn't develop the characters well nor explain the relationship between them. Dialogue does pace the movie well, and Tylers dialogue does have some better than average one liners for an action hero, but for the most part all dialouge is poor and needs improved upon. Conflict: Best part of the script, orignal in a sense, well researched, easy to market, and a built in fan base. Pacing: The pacing is about 50/50. The opening is great, then it gets a little to much at once. I would like to see some scenes slow it down and develop the characters relationships and give us just a bit more on the insight. I think if the pacing were correct there is a lot more you could do with the reverend. Having typed that though, if you the writers intent was pure chaos from opening to closing, they certainly accomplished that well. Climax/Resolution: It was satisfying, the writer left it open like you're supposed to. As with any script there is room for improvement. Script Read: The script maintains your interest because the concept is so good, and the writer takes some details with action and props that make it stand out. It does not read well though. The action scenes are way to long and written like a book, there are several simple grammar mistakes, such as misspellings, double words, and punctuation errors. So many in fact that it leads one to conclude the writer just didn't care to proof read at all before submitting.

Concept: If there were a 1-10 scale I would eagerly say the concept was a 7. In a genre, where it's extremely difficult to pull an original idea, this script manages to do that very well. Not only was it the concept the best part of this particular script, but it is so good that it affords the writer several options to improve up on the story going forward. Logline + 10: This area was not stimulating to the reader at all. The story failed to garner any real interest investment until the best friend portaled with the main character. However, improving on that with the current stories content is possible. One suggestion would be to start with the flashbacks of the main character all told at once then transition forward. Scenes: The writer did very well in capturing the movement of characters within scenes, creating fight sequences, settings and props were detailed sensibly within the writing. Continuity of the scenes were poor in the fact they either build no climax or, when they start to it is quickly dashed. Characters: None of the story's characters are able to achieve being memorable after a read through. The scene placement is to scattered, the descriptions of their relationships fail to capture any emotional investment from the reader, and the dialogue has no snap. Dialogue: In this area the writer did well with allowing the dialogue to set a proper pace telling the story, but the actual content needs to be improved on. The characters conversations need more dramatic flair. Conflict: Very well done when only considering the actual conflict in the story. It's easy to grasp what the character is doing, how the conflict arises is described well and how it the conflict within the story is created is somewhat original and exciting. Pacing: The pacing due to scene placement is choppy and waters down any excitement that starts to build within the story. Climax/Resolution: Needs to be improved. The writer needs to consider many changes to what is a great concept for a story. It's ability to dabble into sci-fi/horror genres opens many doors to better characters and story plots, this reads as a rough draft or notes to an idea that is yet to develop in it's entirety. Read: This version of the story would fail to interest readers from completing the read but it can be improved easily.
