The story centers on an old couple. We never see the wife apart from the back of her head as she sits in a chair. She never speaks either. It is the old man who does the talking and as he does we realise he's suffering from demntia. He's been a little worried about his wife becuause she isn't eating but doesn't really want to bother anyone about this.
Gradually we realise something is very wrong here. When a woman comes rushing through the door and into their living room (who we might assume is their daughter)our suspicions are confirmed.
As a script, Fuss tries to be as subtle as possible whilst allowing the reader to work out what is actually going on.
When an old woman in the end stages of Alzheimer's suddenly recalls family milestones, she struggles to make sure her daughter knows she was briefly remembered and always loved before her mind forever fades away.
When hallucinatory voices demand another politically motivated murder, a prolific serial killer fights his insanity to save the sweet young child he's been staking and destined to kill.
