August Miles is the future of law enforcement in Atlanta. He has excelled in the Police Academy and has become one of the Elite officers within the A.P.D. Chief Jackson, who thinks of August as a son, has taken him under his wing and is prepping him as his successor. August, a devoted husband and loving father, wants to break the chains of poverty and rid the drug infested streets. But on the day August receives an excellence award for preventing a major drug deal, his wife and child are executed in retaliation. August embarks on a downward spiral of revenge.

Silky Smooth, an untouchable major drug dealer, is responsible for the execution. A guilt-ridden Chief Jackson assigns August to lead a new division of narcotics, called Red Dogs. This new division will provide August with special resources to bring down the major drug dealers, primarily Silky Smooth. The Chief also asks August to protect Silky Smooth from the Mexican Cartel, who wants to see Silky dead after crossing their crime organization. Unsure if Silky Smooth is the killer of his family, August reluctantly accepts.

Haunted by the death of his family, August experiences a series of unfortunate events. He is set up on a routine drug bust that ends with two of his agents shot, he narrowly escapes a drive by attempt on his life, and to make matters worse, a major drug dealer is lynched. The crime looks like the work of a white hate group, K-3.

With no one to trust, August turns to F.B.I. Special Agent Woods. Agent Woods has been assigned to this hate crime due to the severity and special circumstances.

August is forced to begin his own investigation after a tip that implicates his Red Dog unit as being corrupt. Distorted by revenge and betrayal, August infiltrates a Mexican safe house and rescues a kidnapped Silky Smooth.

After a second drug dealer is whipped to death and hanged, August holds a briefing within his unit and discloses that these hate crimes are a distraction to cover the truth about drug trafficking. August prepares his unit for one last drug bust and confrontation that will uncover the corruption within his Red Dog unit.
